Haleakalā Silversword (Hawaiian ʻāhinahina), a threatened species which only grows on Haleakalā. It almost went extinct because of overgrazing by livestock, as well as people trampling it, picking its flowers, or just uprooting it to roll it down the mountain for fun. The monitoring and protection for this species is now considered a success for the Park Service, and the silversword is becoming much more common in its extremely limited habitat.
