This picture shows the way the island of Santorini's forms a circular caldera, with a volcanic island in the middle. The Cristal is on the left. This is one of many proposed sites of the legendary lost city of Atlantis. If it were here, it could have been buried by layer upon layer of volcanic rock, making it impossible to ever find. There are some characteristics of the island and other facts that match up with the legend, but there really is no way of knowing whether Atlantis was here, or if it ever really existed.
