The castle of Bourtzi at sunset. It is situated in the middle of the harbor of Nafplion. It was built by Venetians in 1473 to help protect the city. In 1865 it became the residence of the executioners from Palamidi fortress, who were believed to bring bad luck to the town. In modern times, it is purely a tourist attraction.
