The Fortress of Palamidi is located on the top of a 216m hill overlooking Nafplion. It was held by many occupying forces, including the Venetians and Turks. In order to enjoy its view of the Argolic Gulf (part of the Aegean Sea), one must climb ~1000 winding steps.
