Canopic jars - held the organs of the deceased. The jackal-headed jar contained the stomach, the falcon-headed jar contained the intestines, the baboon-headed jar contained the lungs, and the human-headed jar contained the liver. The heart was believed to contain the soul and was the only organ to be left inside the body.
