Inland of the main harbor is Lake Voulismeni, at the center of town. It is now connected to the harbor by a shallow waterway, so small boats can enter the lake. Legend claims that it was once the bathing place for Athena, and also that it is bottomless. It isn't bottomless, but it is quite deep for its size - 210 feet to the bottom.
